The smoke group covers sixteen line items in 60 mm, 81 mm, 81/82 mm and 120 mm. Designation families are M64P2, M64P3 and M64P4, M89, Mk12, M08, M93, M73, M73P1 and M73P2, Mk10, M72P1, M09, M88P1 and M91. Every entry states the calibre, the mass with fuze, the mass of the smoke charge, a fuze designation and a maximum range figure. Six are white phosphorus lines, five carry an HC composition described as screening smoke, and the remainder state a smoke charge without naming the composition.

How the smoke nature is specified
Tender annexes describe a smoke bomb by calibre, length and mass with fuze, the smoke charge and its mass, the composition where the source names one, the fuze designation and the maximum range against a stated barrel length. Several entries built around an HC composition add a smoking time and an average fall speed for the smoke box; most of those with an impact fuze add a muzzle safety distance instead. Most lines close with pressure, temperature range and packaging.
Designation families and what varies by model
Fill mass is the clearest divider: 190 g on the 60 mm M08, M73 and M73P2, 300 g on the Mk10, 450 g on the 60 mm HC lines M08 and M93, 850 g on the 81/82 mm M09 and M88P1, and 2350 g to 2450 g across the 120 mm M64 series and Mk12. Within the M64 series the fuze moves from UT M68P1 on the P2 to UT M88P1 on the P3 and P4, and the published range rises from 6500 m to 7000 m.
Questions about this equipment
Which entries state a white phosphorus fill?
Six do: the 120 mm M64P2 at 2450 g, M64P3 at 2.35 kg and M64P4 at 2350 g, the 81 mm M72P1 at 0.6 kg, the 81/82 mm M91 at 700 g and the 60 mm M73P1 at 0.22 kg. The remaining ten state either an HC composition or a smoke charge without a named composition.
Is a smoking time published for every line?
No. A smoking time appears on three entries only: at least 210 s for the 120 mm M89 and at least 120 s for the 81/82 mm M09 and M88P1. The other thirteen lines record the charge mass, the fuze and the range figures without stating how long the smoke lasts.
