The high-explosive group covers twenty-five line items in 60 mm, 81 mm, 81/82 mm, 82 mm and 120 mm. Designation families include EBT M18, M62P8 to M62P11, M72, M72/M74, M72P3/M74P3, M72P4/M74P4, M73 and its P3 to P5 variants, M08 and M08 P1, M09P1, M91, Mk10, Mk10P1, Mk11, Mk11P1, Mk12-L, Mk12P1 and Mk12P1-L. Every entry states a calibre, a fuze designation and a maximum range figure, and most add a mass with fuze; fillings are trotyl (TNT) or hexolite (RDX/TNT) where the source names one.

A tender annex line for a high-explosive bomb is normally built from the calibre, the mass with fuze, the length with fuze, the explosive charge and its mass, the fuze designation, the muzzle safety distance, the maximum mean operating pressure and the maximum range quoted against a named barrel length. Most entries here add a killing range radius at one penetration per square metre and an operating temperature range; several also carry packaging dimensions and a UN hazard classification.
Within a family the suffix marks the difference. The M62 series runs from P8 to P11 on a 12600 g body, and the fuze changes from UT M68 P1 to UT M88 P2 or UTU M93P1; range figures published for these run from 6555 m to 7100 m. The Mk12 family separates standard and long-barrel entries, Mk12P1 against Mk12P1-L and Mk12-L, with 2900 g or 3100 g fills and quoted ranges of 7400 m or 9400 m.
Trotyl (TNT) is named for the 60 mm M08, M08 P1, M73 and M73P3 to M73P5 entries, the 81 mm M72 pair, the 120 mm M62 series and the 82 mm Mk11. Hexolite (RDX/TNT) is named alone for the M91 and Mk11P1, and as an alternative to trotyl for the Mk10, Mk10P1, M09P1, the M72/M74 group and the Mk12 entries. The EBT M18 line states none.
Published maximum ranges run from 2500 m for the 60 mm M73 and M73P3 to 9400 m for the 120 mm Mk12-L and Mk12P1-L, most of them quoted against a stated barrel length. Where a figure is tied to a named barrel, ranges from different families should be read against that barrel length rather than compared directly.
