High explosive, dual purpose and thermobaric low-velocity launcher rounds
These six line items are 40x46 mm low-velocity rounds. Four are high explosive: the M99 and M17 with a fuze arming at 14 to 27 m, and the M99 P1 and M14 with a self-destructing fuze arming at 8 to 30 m. The M99 dual purpose round adds penetration of 60 mm of steel plate, and the M18 is a thermobaric round quoted by overpressure and zone of destruction. Every record states a round or grenade mass; the five with a range figure quote a maximum of 400 m.
A 40 mm x 46 thermobaric round that acts with high temperature and a shock wave against personnel in shelters and in the open, and against light armoured and non-armoured vehicles.
A 40 mm x 46 low-velocity high-explosive round with a self-destruct fuze, intended for firing from NATO-standard 40 mm low-velocity grenade launchers against targets in the open and in shelters at ranges from 50 m to 400 m.
40x46 mm low-velocity high explosive dual purpose round penetrating 60 mm of steel plate with a lethal radius of at least 5 m.

The common frame the five explosive entries share
The five high explosive and dual purpose entries share a common frame: a maximum range of 400 m, a lethal radius of at least 5 m and an operating range of -42 to +63 degrees C. Four of the five add a muzzle velocity of 78 m/s, the M99 P1 omitting it, and four quote precision on a vertical target at 100 m of Vp 0.25 m and Vv 0.35 m or less, the M14 omitting it. The M18 record replaces those figures with thermobaric values.
Explosive mass and arming distance across the six entries
Five designations appear: M99 in a high explosive, a self-destructing P1 and a dual purpose version, then M17, M14 and M18. Round mass runs from 210 g on the M18 to 245 g on the two M99 items, and explosive mass is 48 g on the three high explosive rounds that quote it against 42 g on the dual purpose M99. An arming distance appears on five of the six entries, and packing or transport data on four of them.
Questions about these line items
What does the thermobaric M18 record state instead of a range?
Its data sheet gives a round mass of 210 g and a grenade mass of 160 g, an epicentre temperature of 1500 degrees C, an overpressure of 1 bar at 1 m distance, an open zone of destruction of 2 square metres and a closed zone of 4 cubic metres, over -30 to +50 degrees C.
Which of these rounds carry transport data?
Only the M17. Its record quotes a case gross mass of 51 kg for 162 rounds, a full pallet gross mass of 837 kg and a transport classification of IMO code 1.2E, UN No. 0321. The M99, M99 P1 and dual purpose M99 records quote 3 rounds per polyethylene bag and 54 bags in a wooden case.
