Match and sniper cartridges are the precision end of the register: heavier or more closely controlled bullets, and in several cases a tighter velocity tolerance than the ball loading of the same calibre. The group holds 11 line items, among them the 5.56 x 45 mm A-399 and A-495, the 7.62 x 51 mm M852, M118, A-497 and A-625, the 7.62 x 54 mm A-579 and A-601, the 7.62 x 54R mm M03, the 8.6 x 70 mm A-421 and A-423, and the anti-materiel M09 and RM06-2. Each entry gives a bullet mass in grams and grains, an average velocity and a packing figure.

A tender annex identifies the round by calibre and index, then by bullet description: HP BT MATCH, SOLID, SNIPER or a lead and antimony core ball. The controlling figures are bullet mass in grams and grains, cartridge mass, and average velocity at 25 m, several entries quoting a tolerance as tight as plus or minus 8 m/s. The temperature interval and the rounds per case complete the record.
Three families sit side by side. Military models keep their service designation, such as M852, M118 and M03. Anti-materiel bullets carry their own names, M09 and RM06-2. The remainder are listed by A-series index alone, among them A-399, A-495, A-497, A-601, A-625, A-421 and A-423. Bullet mass runs from 4.47 g to 51.3 g across the group, and the packing unit changes with it, from cardboard cases to M2A1 boxes.
Four descriptions recur. Hollow point boat tail match bullets are used in the 5.56 x 45 mm, 7.62 x 51 mm A-497 and A-625 and 8.6 x 70 mm entries. Solid bullets appear in the RM06-2 and M09. Lead and antimony core ball bullets are quoted for the M852 and M118, and sniper bullets for the A-579 and M03.
The 5.56 x 45 mm match cartridge is written for sniper rifles with 1:9 in or faster twist, the 7.62 x 51 mm A-497 for 9.5 to 12 inch twist barrels and the A-625 for 9.5 to 14 inch twist barrels. The remaining entries name a weapon calibre rather than a twist rate.
